IGBO UNITED APP PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: September 6, 2026
Igbo United respects the privacy and security of our members and users. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Igbo United mobile application (“Igbo United App,” “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) may collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
The Igbo United App is designed to support community communication, member services, safety and SOS assistance, wellness check-ins, notifications, and other community functions. Some features require personal information or device permissions in order to operate.
We do not sell users’ personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not use the information collected through the App to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Depending on the features a user chooses to use, the Igbo United App may collect the following information:
Contact Information: Name, email address, phone number, and other contact information provided during registration or use of the App.
Location Information: Precise location may be collected when required for SOS, emergency assistance, live-location safety features, mapping, or other location-based functions.
Contacts: With the user’s permission, the App may access contact information from the user’s device to support contact and communication features.
User Content: Messages and other communications, photos or videos, audio, reports, and other content submitted through the App.
Identifiers: User ID and other account identifiers necessary to authenticate users and connect information and activity to the correct account.
Sensitive Information: Certain information voluntarily provided by users as part of membership, community, safety, or related App functions may be considered sensitive information under applicable privacy laws.
Search History: Search information may be processed when users use search features within the App.
We collect and use this information as necessary to provide the App’s features and services, including account management, communication, community services, safety and SOS functions, wellness features, notifications, security, and user support.
2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
Igbo United uses information collected through the App to provide and operate its services. This includes creating and managing member accounts; authenticating users; enabling community messaging and communication; supporting member and contact features; providing notifications and wellness check-ins; and operating safety, SOS, emergency, and location-based features.
During an SOS or other safety event, information such as the member’s identity, precise location, messages, photos, video, audio, reports, and other relevant information may be used to help identify the person requesting assistance, understand the emergency, coordinate assistance, and maintain an incident record.
Information may also be used to protect the security and integrity of the App, prevent misuse or fraud, provide user support, and maintain reliable operation of the service.
Igbo United does not use information collected through the App for third-party advertising or targeted advertising, and we do not use this information to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes.
3. HOW INFORMATION MAY BE SHARED
Igbo United does not sell users’ personal information.
Information may be shared only when reasonably necessary to operate the App, provide a feature requested by the user, protect users or the service, comply with applicable legal requirements, or respond to a safety or emergency situation.
Safety and SOS: When a user activates an SOS or other emergency feature, relevant information may be made available to authorized Igbo United safety personnel or other persons involved in responding to the incident. Depending on the circumstances and available features, this may include the user’s identity, contact information, precise location, SOS information, photos, video, audio, messages, or other information relevant to obtaining or coordinating assistance.
Service Providers: We may use service providers that supply infrastructure or technical services necessary to operate features of the App. Information is provided to such services only as necessary for those functions.
Legal and Safety Requirements: Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Igbo United, or others.
We do not share users’ personal information with advertising networks or data brokers for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking.
4. DEVICE PERMISSIONS AND USER CONTROL
Certain App features require permission to access functions or information on the user’s device. Depending on the features used, these permissions may include location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or media, and notifications.
Location: Location permission supports SOS, emergency assistance, live-location safety features, mapping, and other location-based functions.
Contacts: Contact permission may be used to support contact and communication features.
Camera, Photos and Video: Camera and media permissions may be used when a user chooses to provide a profile image, submit content, or use SOS and safety features involving photos or video.
Microphone and Audio: Microphone permission may be used for communication features and for audio associated with SOS or safety functions.
Notifications: Notification permission allows the App to deliver communications, safety alerts, SOS information, wellness notices, and other important App notifications.
Users can control device permissions through their device settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the corresponding App feature from functioning properly. In particular, disabling location, notification, camera, or microphone permissions may limit certain SOS and emergency capabilities.
5. DATA STORAGE, SECURITY AND RETENTION
Igbo United takes reasonable measures designed to protect information collected through the App from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Information may be stored on systems and services used to operate the Igbo United App and its features. Access to information is limited according to operational roles and the functions necessary to provide and administer the service.
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide App services, maintain appropriate account and safety records, comply with applicable legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect users and the service, and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
SOS and emergency-related records may be retained when reasonably necessary for safety, incident documentation, follow-up, security, or legal purposes.
6. USER PRIVACY CHOICES AND REQUESTS
Users may review or update certain account and profile information through available features of the Igbo United App.
Users may also contact Igbo United to request assistance concerning their personal information, including requests to access, correct, or delete information associated with their account, subject to applicable law and information that Igbo United may reasonably need to retain for security, safety, fraud prevention, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or emergency and incident records.
Before processing certain privacy or account requests, Igbo United may need to verify the identity of the person making the request in order to protect member information from unauthorized access or deletion.
Users may also control permissions such as location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or media, and notifications through their device settings. Disabling permissions may affect the availability of related App features.
7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Igbo United App is not intended for children under 13 years of age to create or use an account independently. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.
If Igbo United becomes aware that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected in circumstances where it should not have been collected, we will take reasonable steps to address the information as appropriate.
A parent or legal guardian who believes that a child has provided personal information through the App may contact Igbo United using the contact information provided in this Privacy Policy.
8. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Igbo United App may rely on third-party technology and service providers to support functions such as hosting, database services, notifications, maps and location features, communications, calling, media delivery, and other technical operations necessary to provide the App.
These providers may process information only as necessary to provide the services used by the App and may have their own privacy and security practices.
The App may also open or connect users to external services, such as mapping or communication services, when a user chooses to use a feature that requires them. Information handled directly by an external service may also be subject to that service provider’s privacy policy.
Igbo United does not authorize its service providers to use information supplied through the App for targeted advertising or cross-app advertising tracking on behalf of Igbo United.
